Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week: Elliot Turner

Elliot Turner is 18 months into his apprenticeship at BE Design, during which time he has been able to gain a wealth of experience on a range of projects ranging from industrial warehouse design to an indoor skydiving tunnel.

Elliot said: “I really believe that apprenticeships give you the best chance of both learning and personal development at the same time.

“During my time at BE Design so far I’ve been able to learn so many new skills. As a technician, I’ve been able to gain experience in a variety of drawing techniques, which I can perform within both 2D and 3D software. This means I can now present information in several different ways, improving the way I communicate with clients and contractors to portray our designs clearly. It’s been a really eye-opening experience and I’ve really enjoyed getting to grips with these design methods.

“Apprenticeships give you the chance to gain a true understanding of how things work – all whilst being in full-time, paid employment. My knowledge of the structural and civil engineering industry has grown more than I ever could have hoped for when I first applied, and I’ve been able to work on a whole host of different projects.

“I hope that I continue to grow and improve throughout the rest of my apprenticeship and beyond. Everyone at BE Design is willing to help you out, no matter what – it really is a family here.”

We are celebrating National Apprenticeship Week this year by shining a light on those members of the BE Design family who joined us on as apprentices, or who have embarked on more formal education through the support of the wider team.
