BE DESIGN RESPONDS TO CLIMATE CRISIS WITH GROWING SUSTAINABILITY TEAM

SUSTAINABLE placemaking is a cornerstone of our approach to architecture and engineering and so we are delighted to announce the appointment of our new senior sustainability consultant, Judy Ong.

With a master’s degree in Architecture: Advanced Environment and Energy Studies and over a decade of experience in the industry, Judy will apply her enthusiasm and extensive knowledge to input sustainable processes in the earliest stage of projects. With a passion for helping clients to reduce their energy consumption, she will utilise her expertise in thermal modelling to develop carbon neutral solutions.

In addition to her qualification as an energy assessor for Levels 3, 4, and 5 EPC and DEC, she is currently in the process of obtaining Chartered Engineer status. Judy is also completing her training to become a Retrofit Coordinator which will help BE Design to deliver deep retrofit projects, making existing buildings more sustainable to meet the UK’s aim of net zero emissions by 2050.

Designing responsibly for the future is a core value of BE Design and drew Judy to the firm. She said: “The core values of BE Design really resonated with me and I’m really looking forward to working with the team to create futureproof, sustainable designs that will have a really positive impact on the environment.

“BE Design work on a big range of projects so I’ll be getting stuck in and learning from a great pool of knowledge, as well as applying my own expertise to help our clients realise their sustainability goals and achieve their net zero targets.”

Charlotte Booth, Associate Director of Sustainability and Wellbeing, added: “Embedding sustainability and wellbeing practices has always been at the heart of what we do so we’re thrilled to bolster our team of experts and welcome Judy to the family.

“With the climate crisis an ever-increasing concern, the work we do implementing long-lasting sustainable change through design will have a real impact in the future.”

We currently have a vacancy for another passionate sustainability consultant to join the BE Design family. If you have a number of years of experience and share our holistic view on sustainability please submit your CV on our careers page.
